Champion Video is always looking for freelance camera operators who are interested in working in a high pressure, fast pace environment. While we don’t have any full time positions currently available, we often are in need of additional camera operators for certain jobs. Camera ops do not need to have any of their own gear and are paid a minimum of $15 per hour. Some jobs offer a higher hourly wage or a day rate. Champion Video will have openings for 1 or 2 qualified candidates in the Spring of 2018.
Champion Video is an event based video production company. Our busiest time of the year is from March until July. During this time we have multiple teams covering multiple events on most weekends. Some weekends an individual’s commitment would only be on Saturday night for a few hours, other weekends the work is Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday. During the week editing shifts are from 4-6 hours long every day. We offer very flexible scheduling for during the week editing hours.
Experience handling Professional Video Cameras (not dslrs).
-be comfortable adjusting: exposure, gain, focus, white balance settings with an understanding of how and why adjustments need to be made
-be comfortable with basic camera functions such as panning, tilting, zooming
-be comfortable with basic tripod functions such as locking/unlocking, panning, tilting, adjusted legs
Experience with Basic Editing
-be comfortable adding clips to a project and timeline
-be comfortable adding basic transitions
-be comfortable adjusting parameters such as audio gain and in and out points
-be comfortable applying effects to a clip
-There are no academic requirements for this job.
-Competency and Reliability are the two most important qualifications we look for in an employee. You must be able to stand in one place (behind a tripod) for periods of 3-5 hours at a time. Editing requires sitting at a desk for 4-6 hours with breaks as needed. Carrying equipment means that you should be able to lift up to 50 pounds for short durations.
-Pay varies based on your abilities. Shooting is $15 per hour. Editing is $8-$12 depending on experience and skill.
How to Apply
We will collect resumes from now until January 2018. Interviews will be conducted in January and February of 2018. Training will take place in the last two week of February. Start Date will be March 2018 and will terminate in July of 2018. Although this is seasonal work, we will have occasional opportunities on a case by case basis throughout the entire year.
